Biography

Prof. Dr. Daniel J. Veit, born 1975 in Munich, is a full professor at the University of Mannheim Business School, Germany and Dieter Schwarz Chair of Business Administration, E-Business and E-Government since 2006. Since 2007 he is the academic director of the ESSEC&Mannheim Weekend Executive MBA Program at Mannheim Business School.

Prior to this position he was an assistant professor with University of Karlsruhe (TH), Germany, where he earned his habilitation degree in Business Administration in 2006 and his doctorate in Economics and Business Engineering in 2002. While achieving his doctorate he was awarded with a scholarship by Siemens Inc. Corporate Technology in Munich. He holds a diploma (MSc-level) in Mathematics with minor in Computer Science from University of Giessen, Germany and spent parts of his undergraduate studies at TU Munich, TU Vienna and University of Maryland, College Park, US. In 2003 he was admitted to the young researchers promotion program of Volkswagen-Foundation. In 2005 he was a visiting scholar with University of California, Berkeley, US. From 2007 to 2008 he represented the business school as the associate dean for international affairs. In 2009 he worked as a visiting professor at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

He published a large number of articles at international conferences and in scholarly journals including Journal of Information Systems and e-Business Management and European Journal of Operational Research. In several invited talks he elaborated on topics in energy markets, markets for service infrastructures and E-Government amongst others at Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley and the e-IRG E-Infrastructures Reflection Group during the German EU Presidency. Next to guest lectures at several German universities he is teaching at the Center for Doctoral Studies (CDSB) funded within the German initiative of excellence in the Graduate School of Economic & Social Sciences (GESS) at University of Mannheim. As a guest editor he was serving for several international journals, amongst others Springer Journal of Grid Computing and Springer Journal of Information Systems and e-Business Management. Dr. Veit is consulting several companies as well as the Baden-Wuerttemberg and the German Federal Ministry of Interior.
